Un hermoso tributo de Serena Bramble al cine negro en un ensayo fílmico sobre sus (bellas) formas, enhebrando figuras y motivos del género con el Angel de Massive Attack y pedacitos de The Letter (1940, William Wyler), The Maltese Falcon (1941, John Huston), Shadow Of A Doubt (1943, Alfred Hitchcock), Double Indemnity (1944, Billy Wilder), Murder, My Sweet (1944, Edward Dmytryk), Scarlet Street (1945, Fritz Lang), Laura (1945, Otto Preminger), Detour (1945, Edgar G. Ulhmer), Notorious (1946, Alfred Hitchcock), Gilda (1946, Charles Vidor), The Killers (1946, Robert Siodmak), The Big Sleep (1946, Howard Hawks), The Postman Always Rings Twice (1946, Tay Garnett), The Lady From Shanghai (1947, Orson Welles), Out Of The Past (1947, Jacques Tourneur), Brute Force (1947, Jules Dassin), Force of Evil (1948, Abraham Polonsky), The Set-Up (1949, Robert Wise), The Third Man (1949, Carol Reed), Criss Cross (1949, Robert Siodmak), Gun Crazy (1950, Joseph H. Uno podría discutir la consideración de dos o tres títulos como filmes noir y echa de menos algunos otros -como la propia autora se ha lamentado en su momento de no haber incluido White Heat (casi es un pecado olvidar a Walsh)-, pero no vamos a empañar el primor de una pieza donde la mirada fascinada pespunta gestos, relámpagos, rostros y noches que amojonaron nuestra cinefilia -y esta escuela- con su bella negrura.
